4th Annual For the Ocean Gala – 2025

We would like to express our sincerest gratitude for all of the support and participation in this year’s event! Your contributions totaled $85,000 after expenses which is the most that this yearly fundraiser has brought in to date.

THANK YOU!!!

As plastic pollution increases, new studies show the presence of microplastics in our bodies causing diseases, infertility, stunted growth and development, and hormonal imbalances. The funds raised will foster the longevity of our organization, allowing POP to continue working towards a cleaner, healthier planet and therefore a cleaner, healthier us.

This year’s For the Ocean Gala was held at the Aloft Wilmington at Coastline Center on March 15, 2025. As our annual gala continues to grow, we hope you will join us again next year as we continue our mission to mitigate plastic pollution and reduce the consumption of single use plastics!

3rd Annual For the Ocean Gala – 2024

We would like to thank each and every one of you who made this spectacular event possible!

Your support helps fund the continuation of our organization and its many beneficial programs such as Trees4Trash and our free student internships.

This years For the Ocean Gala was held at the Aloft Wilmington at Coastline Center on May 4, 2024 and we are excited to start planning for next year!

2nd Annual For the Ocean Gala – 2023

The Lumina on Wrightsville Beach was a stunning venue for our second annual For the Ocean Gala on March 7th, 2023!

Thank you to all of the sponsors, donors, and volunteers that came together to help make this event happen.

An even bigger thank you to our guests! We look forward to making next year’s gala even more spectacular!

1st Annual For the Ocean Gala – 2022

The NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher was the perfect setting for the Plastic Ocean Project’s

first ever For the Ocean Gala fundraiser hosted on April 30th 2022.

Guests enjoyed a cocktail hour, sit down dinner, live music and a silent auction.

POP interns also hosted education stations, so the evening was informative as well as entertaining.

The highlight of the evening, though, was the screening of the short film 356.

Thanks to a team of dedicated volunteers, this event was a huge success that sold out ahead of time! We were overwhelmed by the generous support shown by the attendees, sponsors, silent auction donors and volunteers.
