Step into a storybook world. This year’s Fantasy theme focuses on whimsy and fairytale-inspired design, where recycled materials are transformed into imaginative pieces. Think of soft textures, layered details, and looks that feel magical without being overdone! Each design should capture a sense of whimsy and creativity, bringing simple materials to life in unexpected ways.
If you would like to support this event in any capacity (judging, volunteering, helping designers, or donating prizes, etc.) please email your contact info & area of interest to: trashnfashn@plasticoceanproject.org

Meet the Organizers

Lane Tompkins

Hi! I’m Lane Tompkins, a senior at Isaac Bear Early College High School and a student organizer behind Trash’n Fash’n. Working on the Trash’n Fash’n show has been so rewarding and I have loved watching it grow. My favorite thing is watching participants bring their ideas to life into fashionable pieces that actually make people think. Being a part of an event that brings different communities together for a shared mission is what makes it all worth it!

Outside of this, you can usually find me painting, playing guitar, spending time on the water, going to live music, grabbing coffee with friends, or trying something new. I’m drawn to creativity in all forms and love being around people and experiences that feel inspiring.

Marley Mitchell

Hi! I’m Marley Mitchell, a senior at Isaac Bear Early College High School and I’ve been a student organizer for the Trash’n Fash’n show for the past 3 years. In being a part of the Trash’n Fash’n show I have had the ability to connect with community members and share my passion about environmental sustainability and fashion! It has been a pleasure to watch our participants from all ages use their creativity to help educate the public and understand the impact of their consumerism.

In my spare time, I love going to the beach with friends and family, dancing, trying new coffee shops, and thrifting! I hope Trash’n Fash’n will continue to inspire the community in regards to environmental sustainability and individualistic creativity.
